The darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep.

What happened to Legolas?

Chapter Two, The darkness will rise from the deep and carry you down into sleep.
October 8th, 3964
South Ent Forest, Findëmaxa's tree- house
South- Earth

"Where's Sidh?"
"She's asleep"
Haldir smiled a bit.
"Findë what did she said, did she said something about me"
"Ehm, yes she did, she said that... you have to show your feelings more.
Maybe not show them. But speak to her, if something's bothering you.
And she really loves you, I dón't doubt that. Maybe she does, but I don't.
And sometimes you're a bit hard"
Haldir shook his head again.
"Ah. Well I'll try. And maybe I understand a bit of what she means. Cause I didn't act nice to her. Ehm you can say I was an asshole"
Findë laughed.
"Most of the time you are"
She laughed. "Hope it was a joke cause otherwise!"
"Yes it was a joke... a where's your sense of humor"

"Sidh? Are you really asleep?"
Haldir's voice was soft a nd sweet.
"No not really cause I was thinking of you"
Haldir smiled but it was to dark, she couldn't see.
"I came to apologize. And to say... that a huge army is on his way. Airadan spotted them"
"Please, come here and that about these armies... let it rest for tomorrow. I do have headache so..."
He kissed me.
"So you really love me?"
"Yes, I don't doubt that anymore, now shut up"

And the next morning, the sky was dark.
I had a bad feeling.
Just like something had happened.
I looked around. I only saw the faces of Airadan, Findëmaxa and Haldir.
But where was Legolas?
Softly I went outside.
Legolas wasn't outside.
Or not here.
I walked into the woods.
"Sidh" I heard someone calling my name.
A deep low voice.
"High Tree?"
"Legolas is in trouble, Orcs got him. He's somewhere in the forest"
"Do you know where?"
I swallowed.
"They went this way" He poked in a direction.
"Thanks, I'll speak you later!"
And I ran away.

"Legolas?"
A soft stifled voice as a reply.
He was tied to a tree.
"Sidh, go away. They would murder you"
"First you have to go home, then they can kill me"
His blue eyes, sad and dull.
I fumbled with the rope.
"Here" I held him my hand.
He couldn't stand on his own legs.
He leaned on me.
"Sidh please leave me here"
"Oh no, I think Findë would murder me first before one Orc could touch me"
He smiled, painfully.

Back nearby the tree house Legolas collapsed.
"Legolas?"
"T-they've done things to me..." he whispered.
"What kind of things Legolas?"
He tried to say some words but he went unconscious.
I carried him closer to the tree house.
"Airadan, I need your help"
He looked up and immediately he started to get some things for Legolas.
"Sidh what happened to him?"
"I don't know precisely I only found him, he said that they did some things to him. But I don't know what kind of things. I think poison or something. Cause otherwise he wouldn't be like this"

After hours Legolas condition was worser.
Findë worried sick.
Legolas head burned.
His fever was too high.
We still didn't know what happened to him, and we couldn't find an answer.
His wounds were sore.
I tried to clean them.
But every time I tried to touch the wounds he moved.
"Please hold him"
Findëmaxa held him tight.
And finally I could clean the wounds.
"And now?" Findë asked frowning worriedly.
"Now we have to stitch the wounds"
"Stitch them?!" She bit her lip and started to get the tools.
She sterilized a needle and got some unbleached sewing thread.
"First the wound on his leg, it's a deep one"
He shivered.
"Sorry for the pain you have"
I didn't know why I said that.
"Sidh, you're doing the right thing, don't apologize"
Maybe I was doing right. Maybe not.
And then the wound on his chest.
Also a wound who wasn't the easiest to heal.
"Actually we need some bandage"
"Oh I can get some"
She went away and came back quickly.
"Great and would you please apply these? Cause I need to wash my hands"
Legolas blood was on my hands.
When I returned, she was holding his hands.
He was so pale.
"He will be better soon"
She stayed with him, watching over him.
And cared for him, when needed.

"How's Legolas doing?" Airadan asked.
"I don't know yet, I hope his wounds are healing, but his fever is still a little bit too high. And he didn't woke up... in all these hours"
"It's not a very good moment"
"Why not?"
"The armies are on their way. Really. They will come quickly"
Suddenly my heart was beating real fast.
"What if he don't wake up?"
"I can call Gwaihir"
"Oh Airadan, you're a hero"
"Shall I do it now? Cause in fact we have to travel further now"
"But we can't walk away from our enemy. We have to face him, or his armies, once"
"You're right Sidh, but we can't do it now, so that's why we have to travel further"
"But we must..."
But it was already to late.
Ents were howling of pain.
"They're all burning!" Airadan said.
"I see"
They were moving to the river.
"Airadan, you have to call Gwaihir"
"No problem Sidh, there he is"
At once an eagle landed.
"Findë please use Gwaihir to save Legolas"
"Where do we have to go?"
"You will meet us by Gildwel again, now move!" Airadan yelled.

So there we stood.
Only Airadan, Haldir and I.
"Airadan use your sword please"
He looked very strange at Haldir.
"You know"
"Oh, yes"
I fired the first arrow, one Orc died.
Haldir fired some arrows to.
I grabbed three arrows and fired.
Orcs were falling down, like a broken puzzle.
"Come on Airadan, finish this fight"

He did.
He finished it.
Dead bodies laying down.
"Up to Gildwel than!"
"Wonder how Legolas is doing"
And I wondered how this could ever happen.
They must have poisoned him...
Or something like that.
Cause he couldn't get this, just because of some wounds.
I knew this of my own injuries.
"And the horses of Legolas and Findë?"
"They're going with us, come on, I can manage one horse, Legolas horse. So Aira, can you manage Findë's horse?"
"Oh yes"

And we travelled back to Gildwel.
Hopefully it wasn't attacked.
On high speed we travelled.
Maybe we could reach Gildwel before the darkness could get there.
But I had the bad feeling something would blockade us.
The wind started to blow.
Leaves blew in any direction.
"This weather is annoying" Airadan looked angry to the sky.
A raindrop right in his eye.
He sighed.
It started to rain harder.
"Come on, faster"
But then a bolt of lightning shattered a tree.
Slowly it felt.
That was blockading our way.
Typical.
We stopped.
"We must go on, we can't stop now"
"There's a shorter way. Follow me"
Airadan led us through the most impossible ways.
"A shorter way you said?"
He grumbled.
"I thought this was the shorter way. Oh yes I see, this way"
I chuckled. It was so Airadan. I liked it.
He didn't.
"But we have to hurry"
"Sidh, you only want to hurry... please calm down"
"No I can't I wanna know what's wrong with Legolas. It nibbles at me"
"Ehm, I missed something?"
"Yes, this morning and I don't know why I woke up early or something. And Legolas wasn't there. And I searched for him. Hightree said that some Orcs had him. Brought him somewhere. I only found Legolas. Who was tied to a tree. And I don't know but he was really ill. And it's really irritating that I don't know what happened"
Haldir opened his mouth but he couldn't answer. He couldn't say anything.
Haldir bowed his head and silenced.
"Most of the time he would answer, you silenced him" Airadan smiled wickedly.
He didn't seem to like Haldir very well, he pretended it all.

Finally.
I was so happy to see Gildwel again.
"Sidh!" Findë cried.
"What's wrong?" Airadan asked.
Findë was worried about Legolas, Airadan was worried about Findë.
Findë was very sensitive. She couldn't have this.
"Legolas... he's still unconscious. That's not right. Isn't it?"
"No it's not good. But he never woke?"
"No"
Rhaich!.
"Where's he Fin?"
"Come I'll show you"
She looked at Haldir.
Who was staring to the ground.
"What's wrong with him?"
She asked while we were running to Legolas.
"Don't know"

Legolas was laying on a comfortable bed.
"Maybe... we have to invite Elrond over"
"Is it that worse?"
"No I'm not saying that. I'm only learning the things"
Her face changed.
"I had to tell you first"
"No. No I don't might. You're learning and very skillful. I'm learning but not that good"
"How long are you busy with this?"
"Some month's. You?"
"One year"
In one year I learned much. But I didn't know anything about this!"
"Sidh. I'm going to Airadan. To ask him for Gwaihir, then I will go to Rivendell"
"If you want. I can go. Than you can stay with Legolas"
"No. I will go. If something happens to him, we can't miss you than"
She left me alone with Legolas.
"What have they done?"
He was still pale as can be.
I felt his temperature.
His fever wasn't that high anymore.
"No ce ammaer ab lí» thent"
I stood up.
Leaving him alone.
But I just wanted to know why Haldir was so silent.

Just when I would walk to Airadan he came to me.
"How's Legolas doing?"
"Well his fever... is not that worse anymore"
He nodded.
"Oh, Airadan, can you send Haldir to me"
"Yes"
And he walked away.

"So you wanted to speak me"
"Yes, cause. You didn't say anything, when I told you about Legolas"
"We're good friends. Good friends with good fights sometimes"
"Ah. But you also wanna know what happened huh?"
"Yes I wanna know"
"But what if Findë fails? Well I mean. What if she never reach Rivendell?"
Fine. My sinister thoughts.
"She will reach Rivendell, she will get Elrond. And Legolas will be better"
Maybe not.
But what if Legolas didn't survive. We will never know what happened to him. And we'll never know what can happen to us.
What if they have a new weapon?
Poisoned weapon?
Or just plain poison.
But what if it isn't poison what is it than?
"Don't think to sinister, Melamin"
