Gekozen omdat het redelijk kort is, want normaal gezien (fingers crossed) komt Vloed morgen eindelijk aan en die wil ik dan meteen beginnen lezen.

Ik ben eindelijk klaar met Ignite Me en URGH. 408 woorden. Totaal 766.
• Ignite Me - Tahereh Mafi
Genre: YA, sf, dystopia
Mening: Yeah, no. Basically hetzelfde als Unravel Me, maar de opbouw was opeens... anders. Call me crazy, maar zelfs met alinea's las het als één lange blok tekst. Opnieuw de rare combo van clichés en poëtische zinnen, but it gets really old really fast. Niks nieuws. Not impressed.
Aanrader: Nope. Als je tot de doelgroep behoort (angsty tienermeisje met romantische neigingen die houdt van sappy sci-fi lovestories maar je wil ook graag een beetje goede schrijfstijl), dan zal je de eerste 2 boeken uit de reeks wel kunnen smaken. Deze lees je dan omdat je dan toch de conclusie wil lezen, maar uiteindelijk denk ik dat ook die lezers bedrogen uitkomen. De "Shatter Me" reeks gaat in dalende lijn, en het beste aan Ignite Me is de fancy coverart. Het enige wat ik zou aanraden is de eerste helft van Shatter Me, voor de love triangle geïntroduceerd wordt. Lees het voor de brokjes poëzie, niet voor het verhaal. You won't really give a shit anyway.

found: ik ben van plan alles van Neil Gaiman ooit in mijn leven gelezen te hebben.
first sentence: I wore a black suit and a white shirt, a black tie and black shoes, all polished and shiny: clothes that normally would make me feel uncomfortable, as if I were in a stolen uniform, or pretending to be an adult.
thoughts: Ik ben niet eens verrast dat ik dit zo'n goed boek vond, want het is Gaiman, en Gaiman schrijft vreemde en unieke dingen die zo mooi zijn dat je het, in het geval van Ocean, pas echt doorhebt in het laatste hoofdstuk. Dit was veel korter dan American Gods, het enige andere boek dat ik al van hem gelezen heb, maar even intrigerend en doordacht. Ik ga niets over het plot zeggen omdat ik niets wil spoilen, maar ik heb nog nooit iets als dit gelezen, en ik vond het zo ontzettend goed.
recommended: Hell yes. Sowieso raad ik Gaiman heel erg aan, want hij is een auteur die je gelezen wilt hebben.
